Ms. Kahan practices primarily in the areas of family and matrimonial law. Joanna has broad experience in handling a wide variety of issues that frequently arise in family and matrimonial law proceedings, including custody, child support, parental access, ACS proceedings, spousal support, orders of protection, property and asset distribution, as well as enforcement and modification proceedings. In addition, Joanna is particularly skilled at asset tracing arising from complex financial matters. Joanna is a zealous advocate for her clients, both inside and outside the courtroom, and she takes great pride in building relationships with her clients, given the particularly difficult and sensitive issues involved in the areas of family and matrimonial law.
Joanna obtained her undergraduate degree at Oberlin College (B.A.), and went on to graduate from The Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where she was an Editor for the Cardozo Journal of Law and Gender, as well as a participant in the Uncontested Divorce Program and Cardozo Advocated for Battered Women. During her first year in law school, Joanna was an intern for the Honorable Harold Bear, Jr., a United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
